After years of displaying items at the Visitor's Center at McGregor Park and looking for a permanent home, the Trail Tavern was purchased and donated to the Upper Rogue Historical Society to be used as a museum.

The Trail Museum opened on May 23rd, 1997, and is located on Old Highway 62, across from Highway 227.  This converted Tavern/Restaurant now houses memorabilia of a bygone era of the Upper Rogue.  The emphasis is on the early days of logging in this area.

Check out the rest of the photos on the Past Page!  These Photos were donated by Jim Collier.

Thank You Mr. Collier.

Rumor has it, that one of the happiest groups in the Valley over the sale was the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.  The history of the Tavern was colorful, including many family, logger and biker disagreements, which escalated after a few drinks.  It is hard to find a person in the Shady Cove/Trail community who doesn't have a story about the old tavern.  Many artifacts and photos are on display inside, and an outdoor logging exhibit is available for viewing.  A wide variety of activities for the community and youth are offered by Society volunteers.  There are approximately 12 volunteers at this time, and 7 board members, including the Chairman of the board, Jim Collier.  We are funded, in part, from the Jackson County historical tax monies, as well as membership dues and donations.  Membership is open to everyone.
