Linda is a self-taught artist, "artisan" as she prefers. This term denotes a person who works with items that can be functional, as well as aesthetically pleasing. Since she was a child, she has always loved creating with her hands. Linda's love for the Native American design, as well as the great outdoors, inspires much of her work. One day, as she was wood burning a portrait of a Native American Indian (on bass wood), a friend encouraged her to try wood burning on a gourd. Much as the ugly duckling turns into a beautiful swan, a plain, moldy, dirt colored gourd, turned into a beautiful work of art and a new love emerged! Linda's professional skills of pyrography (fire writing), basket weaving, wood working, folk art painting, macramé, leather work, wood sign painting, and beading, are put to use in creating her artistic gourds. Gourds are nature's pottery. Each one brings its own unique creative challenge. she puts herself wholeheartedly into each piece. A part of her lives in each one! Linda grows, harvests, selects, cleans, sketches, burns, cuts, colors and seals each gourd. Using a wide variety of mediums, she is able to achieve the warm rich colors and tones. It is Linda's hope that you enjoy these "UNIQUE CREATIONS" as much as she does in creating them. ALSO FEATURING
